A Rose in My Book

Thank You for Your Support

On behalf of the A Rose in my Book committee, we would like to thank you for your very generous support of our Breast Cancer fundraising events in 2010. We are very proud to announce that we raised $155,000 in support of breast cancer research, with all money staying right here in London under the direction of Dr Ann Chambers at the London Regional Cancer Program. Thank you again for supporting this very worthy cause keeping in mind that one day WE WILL FIND A CURE!

We are preparing our sponsorship packages for our 2011 events and we hope we can count on your support again.

I am still stunned by the generosity of the many people who contributed to the huge success of the ‘Rose in My Book’ events over the past year. I am so grateful that we have such strong community support for our breast cancer research program at the London Regional Cancer Program. Researchers are indeed making significant progress against this disease that affects so many women, their families and their friends. But we still have so much more to do, and the funds that you helped to raise will enable us to do this vital research.

We have just completed our Translational Breast Cancer Research Training Program competition, and I am delighted that we were able to award 25 traineeships for the academic year 20102011. The awardees are talented and bright graduate students and postdoctoral fellows. They are contributing to a broad range of important breast cancer research, from studies on how cancer cells spread to form metastases, to better ways to image and detect breast cancer early, to better ways to learn what treatments will work in individual patients, and so much more. This is our largest group of trainees ever, and this was made possible by your generous support of our program.

Thank you very much for your ongoing support!

It is the commitment, effort and generosity of very special people that make an event successful. On behalf of the London Health Sciences Foundation, and, more importantly, on behalf of the countless women whose lives will be impacted by your success, I sincerely thank Brian Davy, Serge Zaina, their dedicated Committee, our sponsors and participants for making all “A Rose in my Book” events true highlights in London’s calendar of charitable events. It is always a challenge to take a fabulous event and make it better, but you have done just that – proceeds of $155,000 and another ‘WOW” moment for Dr. Chambers, her program and breast cancer research. We extend special thanks to Alan Frew for confirming his commitment to “A Rose in My Book”. He has become the face of “Rose” and a true champion for women confronting breast cancer.
